
The Renault Clio is a versatile range of vehicles from the French manufacturer Renault. Clio has been produced in several generations, which were marketed in 1990, 1998, 2005, and 2012 respectively. Different versions of the Renault Clio
Currently, there are four different generations of Clio in the Renault brand. All were preceded by the Renault Super Five, unveiled in 1984.

Generation 1: Clio I
The Renault Clio I range was produced between 1990 and 1999. Production went through three different phases. In its first phase, it was produced from 1990 to 1994; in the second phase from 1994 to 1996 and in the third phase from 1996 to 1999. The Clio I was first refreshed in 1994 and again in 1996. A total of 4,016,000 units were produced.
Generation 2: Clio II
The Renault Clio II was produced from 1992 to 2012 and underwent facelifts in 2001, 2003, and twice in 2009. This production spanned 5 different phases. In the first phase, it was produced from 1998 to 2001; in the second phase, from 2001 to 2003; in phase 3, from 2003 to 2006; in phase 4, from 2006 to 2009; and in phase 5, from 2009 to 2012. A total of 5,631,000 units were produced.

Generation 3: Clio III
The Renault Clio III was produced from 2005 to 2014 and received facelifts in 2009 and 2012. Three different production stages occurred with this generation. In phase I, production took place from 2005 to 2009; in phase II, from 2009 to 2012. For the Clio III, the third phase named Collection was produced from 2012 to 2014. A total of 2,400,000 units were produced.
Generation 4: Clio IV
The production of the Renault Clio IV began in 2012. By the end of 2018, a new generation (Clio V) is expected to take its place. It is currently in its second phase, which was produced from 2016 to 2018, while the first was produced from 2012 to 2016.
How to open the hood of a Clio
Opening the hood of a Renault Clio is not very complicated. You just need to follow these steps:
- Look on the driver’s side, there is a joystick located to the left of the pedals under the dashboard;
- Once found, pull it;
- Now, go to the front of the car and put your hand between the hood and the grille to the left of the logo;
- Press the handle and lift the hood;
- And finally, don’t forget to put the hood prop to hold it up.
